Kicked off the holiday season at Alpine Village's Oktoberfest in Torrance. (I did mention Halloween is my fave holiday, right?) This is such a fun event complete with great German food and beer; live music and dancing; festive attire; and a hilarious MC. I definitely make a point to attend at least once a year.

October 1st! My, the year is zooming by. Its all gravy though because it means Halloween is almost here!
Here are some fun jack-o-lantern and pumpkin decorating ideas in the spirit of my favorite holiday.

Hiroshige: Visions of Japan

Currently on exhibit at the Norton Simon is an amazing collection of 175 wood block prints by Japanese artist Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858). The various "Visions of Japan" include everyday life scenes, the four seasons, Mount Fuji, as well as, 20 gorgeous bird/flower pieces. He was said to be one of the most celebrated and prolific artists of his time.

 The kacho-ga or flower and bird works really inspired me in planning my next tattoo.
